Welcome to Marginalized Echo’s, a space dedicated to exploring the lives, struggles, and triumphs of marginalized communities, with a special focus on Indian society.
Who We Are
I am Sumita Dahiya, a PhD research scholar at DCRUST University. My academic journey has led me deep into the study of marginalized communities, with a particular emphasis on Black African American experiences. My research explores the historical, cultural, and social dimensions that shape the lives of Black people in America. Through my work, I aim to contribute to a more nuanced understanding of these communities, both in their unique contexts and in the broader global landscape.
Our Mission
At Marginalized Echo’s, our mission is to shine a light on the stories that often go untold. While my academic focus is on Black African American experiences, this blog primarily centers around the marginalized communities within Indian society. India, with its vast diversity, is home to a myriad of communities that face systemic oppression and social challenges. We delve into their stories, aiming to raise awareness, provoke thought, and inspire change.
What We Cover
Research-Informed Insights: Drawing from my academic work, I share research-based articles that explore the parallels and differences between the struggles of marginalized communities in the United States and India.
Stories from the Ground: We highlight the voices of individuals and communities within India who are fighting against social injustices, providing them a platform to share their experiences.
Cultural Analysis: Understanding the cultural contexts that shape the experiences of marginalized communities is key to our work. We analyze how culture, tradition, and societal norms contribute to the marginalization of certain groups.
Historical Context: We provide historical perspectives to better understand the roots of current social issues, drawing connections between past and present struggles.
Why This Blog?
The fight against marginalization is a global one. By comparing and contrasting the experiences of Black African Americans with those of marginalized communities in India, we can uncover universal patterns of oppression and resistance. This blog is a humble attempt to contribute to this global conversation, with the hope of fostering greater empathy, understanding, and solidarity across different communities.
